Actor/Director Lou Diamond Phillips announced the creation of ACT Today!, a new organization dedicated to raising money for children with autism. Phillips, who is also a board member for the organization, MCed the event for ACT Today! at a private home in Chartsworth on September 22nd. Participating supporters included actress Pell James, producer Michael Burns, actress Lori Loughlin, and Dixie Chicks musicians Martie Maguire, Emily Robison and Natalie Maines. The fundraiser was a joint effort between Thoughtful House in Austin, TX and the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, headquartered in Tarzana, CA. The event raised awareness of the need for funding and resources for those affected by Autism and their families.
